Fork Damper Tube - Dural

Fork Damper Tube - Dural

DESCRIPTION

Most people don't know what is inside their Norton forks, so here are some pictures!

There are 4 different lengths of Norton forks; Seeley, Manx & Road Featherbed use the same length of damper tube, but different lengths of damper rod. Commando uses the road featherbed length of damper rod, with UNF threads & a longer damper tube to make up the length, but we have now run out of the Commando damper tubes.

We make these damper tubes from high strength "Dural" for a light but strong component.

Because the tube end seats on a tapered nose, we strongly recommend that you do not use the Norton fibre washer under it, instead seal the bottom face of the damper tube to the fork slider with silicone sealant ('Instant Gasket').

The Damper Tube Cap is a critical part of the damper - the anulus between the Rod & the hole in the Cap controlls rebound damping, and as the hole is worn by rubbing with the damper rod, the damping is gradually diminished.

The Damper Valve assembly itself never wears out.

Using the correct bottom bolt & washer is important to ensure correct location & sealing.

Damper rods are only offered in Steel. 3 different lengths & 2 different threads! Provided you select the correct model of forks for your bike, we will do our best to send you the correct rods!

We have a damper rod pick up tool, part number 25014 priced at £10. Great for helping connect damper rods to top nuts.

We recommend 170ml of 20wt fork oil in each Commando leg.

For all other varieties we recommend 150ml of 20wt fork oil.
